Robert and his wife Sonia prepared their Wills in 1989. The Wills said all assets went to the surviving spouse and then to their children in equal shares. Robert and Sonia separated in 1999 but they did not divorce. Robert did not make a new Will and when he died in 2015 Sonia was the beneficiary entitled in his Will to receive all of his estate. If Robert had reviewed his Will after he separated from Sonia then he may have decided to change his Will to benefit his children. It is always a good idea to review your legal documents regularly.
